The Wurn Family Library
One of Temple’s greatest treasures is the Wurn Family Library, the largest synagogue library in the Southeast! Whether you are looking for popular classic or contemporary Jewish fiction, resources to deepen your Jewish knowledge, or kid-friendly stories that bring the Jewish experience to life, the Wurn Family Library has something for everyone.

The Wurn Family Library Collection
Named in honor of Temple benefactors Adolph and Clara Wurn, the Wurn Family Library is a literary magnet for pleasure readers and knowledge seekers alike. Staffed completely by volunteers, the Wurn Family Library adheres to American Library Association guidelines. Books, magazines, relevant publications, scholarly articles—they are just some of the materials found in the collection. Come browse!
Just for Kids
“Hilda’s Garden” – named in honor of Hilda Gelfman who served as Head Librarian for 22 years – features 4,000+ children’s books that range from classics to the latest releases. You will find everything from picture books about Shabbat to stories for the holidays to Jewish-themed bedtime reading.
How It Works
The library is open whenever Temple is open and books are available even when staff is not present. Simply use the sign-out form at the front desk and abide by the honor system. Outside of the library, there is an ongoing ‘Hallway Book Sale’ with books for sale that have been donated by the community, and the proceeds help ensure the self-sufficiency of the Temple library.
